"Dead By Midnight" (DBM) from Chicago, IL have come a long way since they formed in January of 2000. These boys have been impressing audiences with their amazing stage show and their love for music for the past 3 years, and show no sign of stopping. In the summer of 2001, DBM recorded their first EP at GalRocz Studios in Oak Lawn, IL. It was released on August 25th at "The Lighthouse" in Chicago, IL. where dozens of copies were sold. As time progressed, DBM became more well known around the Chicago and northwest Indiana areas. The year of 2002 held the most experiences for DBM. In March they played a battle of the bands at a Chicago high school in font of 1,273 people and won 1st place out of 64 bands! That April DBM went back into the studio and recorded their first full length CD "Smithsonian Happiness" (which is still sold out on Interpunk.com) The CD release of "Smithsonian Happiness" was set for April 26th, 2002. at their favorite Chicago venue "The Lighthouse." Unfortunately a week before the show, DBM got word that the venue had closed down, and the show was then moved to a friend's garage. 400+ people showed up for the show. 45 minutes into it, Chicago police showed up and stopped the show with 2 arrests. That summer DBM played many shows at various Illinois and Indiana venues. December 20th, 2002. marked the ending of their first tour "The Eastbound Exits Tour" where DBM played 13 shows in the states of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia. On March 1st, 2003. DBM played a battle of the bands at the Congress Theatre in Chicago, IL. Their outstanding performance that night caught the eye of Dave Cameron (owner of SecondHand Records) who has now just recently signed DBM to his label in April. DBM is currently in the studio working on their SecondHand records debut set for this fall.
